Our Mission

LumaEcho is a social platform for language learners. We believe that regular, authentic practice is the key to language fluency — so we built a community where people share posts, reply with audio echoes, and learn through real conversation every day.

Our Story

LumaEcho started in 2025 as a solo side project to explore modern technology and AI-assisted development. What began as a simple social media experiment grew into a full-featured platform that combines social networking with language learning — where every post is an opportunity to practice, and every echo is a step toward fluency.

I'm Martin, a software engineer based in Cologne, Germany. LumaEcho is my passion project for building something genuinely useful for language learners alongside my work at adesso SE.

Technology

LumaEcho is built on a modern, open-source stack and uses trusted AI services:

• Speech-to-text transcription via OpenAI Whisper
• Automatic translation into 20 languages via DeepL
• Audio recording and playback directly in the browser — no app download required
• Progressive Web App (PWA) — installable on any device
• Backend: Spring Boot · Frontend: Next.js · Hosted in Germany
